Digital Photography Standards Project: The Role of the Assistant The change to a digital photography workflow requires, for most photographers, an assumption of tasks previously handled by both photolabs and service bureaus. The cataloging and archiving, preparation for proofing, and preparation of master files all require significant time and effort by the photographer. One photographer, who has been digital for some time, has been watching this trend. She remarked that it may be difficult for photographers to function in this new business environment as sole proprietorships.
