Rank and File can Reverse the embedding process so that you can recover your Ratings and Labels in case you accidentally change them. This is also helpful if multiple users will be rating the files. Each user can automatically save and clear the other user's ratings, and simultaneously restore their own ratings.

When we first started working with Bridge, one of the things we discovered is that it is relatively easy to accidentally change the Ratings and Labels of many images accidentally. Because of the nature of the Rating and Label function, Bridge does not ask you if you really want to make these changes. And unfortunately, you cannot undo this action.

We decided to build into Rank and File the ability to recover saved Ratings back into the Star settings. If you have run Rank and File on an image, or a set of images, you can recover these settings by runninng the script in reverse. Chose More Settings, and check the Reverse box.

Once you run Rank and File in reverse, the stars will reflect the settings that have been written into the keywords.

When Rank and File runs in reverse, it looks for the keyword prefix (such as "Peter's Ratings") that you assigned when you ran it the first time. It will only reassign Ratings that have this prefix. Because of this, you can actually have multiiple users assign Ratings to the files, and save each set to keywords independently of the other users.

So, for instance, a photographer could give his ratings to a set of images from an assignment. When the Picture Editor gets the images, she could run Rank and File and save the photographer's ratings to Keywords with the prefix "Photographer's Ratings". She could then assign her own ratings and save those as "Editor's Ratings." Each set of Ratings could automaticallly be recalled and applied to the entire set of images in one step.
